Matcha Green Tea (Ceremonial Grade)


Often served within the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, matcha may be enjoyed hot or cold. This stone-ground, ceremonial grade tea has a pure, mild taste with a subtle, yet sweet finish. Matcha is naturally rich in nutrients including protein, potassium, chlorophyll, and antioxidants, and it provides a steady dose of energy throughout the day. The tea plants are shaded during the latter part of the growth period to increase the brightness and sweetness of the tea. A good pre- or post-workout tea to increase energy and focus without added sugar. Also a great pick-me-up for the workplace!

Ingredients: stone-ground Japanese green tea.

Hot-brewed: heat water below boiling (approximately 170°). Add 1/2 teaspoon of tea (1 to 2 scoops using a bamboo chashaku) to 8-10 oz. of water. Blend 1-2 minutes using a whisk (chasen) or teaspoon until matcha forms a top foam.

Cold-brewed: add 1 teaspoon of matcha to a 16 oz. water bottle. Cover tightly and shake vigorously to blend.
